Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a guide for writing journal entries?

There is no one particular way to write journal entries. An entry can be a few words, a couple sentences, several paragraphs, or a smorgasbord of tidbits. You can enter a single daily entry or many entries each day. Basically, it’s entirely up to you.

What information should I record?

Whatever’s on your mind, or whatever you’d like to document for future reference. You can use Yo Journal to recap everyday activities or to record your thoughts and opinions.

What’s a widget?

Widgets are templates for recording and viewing specific pieces of information (i.e. books read, movies seen, or your daily weight). Data submitted into a widget may appear as a list, graphically, or as a set of averages.

There are currently five widgets to choose from. To learn more about widgets, click here.

What are categories and why would I use them?

Categories enable users to create specific topics (i.e. quotes, hobbies, or clients) and submit and maintain entries independent from their main journal entries. Categories can be set up and used to:

  • Keep noteworthy quotes
  • Record the lives of your children
  • Document career highlights for a particular job
  • Track hobby-related information
  • Capture ideas for a book you’d like to write or a business you’d like to start
  • Input the results of your favorite team
  • Note patient or client meeting/conversation details
  • Mark business milestones and goals
  • Record lessons learned or shared wisdom
  • Maintain hours and tasked worked on a particular project

All entries submitted on a specific category appear on the same page in reverse chronological order. To learn more about categories, click here.
